Simple Activities for Toddlers

One of the most fun, imaginative activity books I've seen.

Each project is designed to enhance your bond with your child while masterfully creating innovative and memorable artwork. With art categories such as: Imaginative Play, Music, Sensory Surprise, Upcycled Art, Emotions Toolkit, Thinking Games and Fine Motor Strengthening, you’ll be creating masterpieces to enjoy for years. Best of all, most contents needed are lying around your house already. My favorite chapter was Upcycled Art. If you have a bunch bottle caps lying around, make a Bottle Top Garden! There are so many ideas that are original, easy to make and that keep kids busy and creating for hours. Gorgeous photos make all crafts practically come to life and each project has easy-to-follow instructions.

Equal parts fun and educational

The book starts with an amazing introduction that talks about the five key elements for the development of the child and the foundational skills for toddlers, which I think was a brilliant way to start the book. Each activity, the author talks about what they are, the materials used, step by step instructions how to construct the activity, the skills that are developed and the vocabulary the kid would learn from these activities. Also the book is so colorful and there are pictures that captures the activities beautifuly. I liked the fact that the author encourages us to re-use stuff that we already have or they would be thrown away and we can use them to entertain kids. The activities are equal parts fun and educational. And a lot of them were really creative and unquie.

An Absolute Treasure Trove

For a non-crafty mum like me, it helps take a lot of the fear away. Everything is visual, with clear instructions and pictures. Each activity lists out the materials you’ll need and any preparation required. After the step-by-step instructions, each activity has a section detailing the skillset your child will learn by doing the activity, and also a vocabulary section which gives a guide to the vocab you can introduce during the play. This book really is a practical play-at-home handbook for parents. I recommend it for EYFS and KS1 and especially if your child has to take in a craft to school and you’re struggling for ideas!
